Dutch deep-tech startup Thorizon has raised €20 million to further develop its revolutionary small modular reactor (SMR), Thorizon One. This new funding brings the total capital raised to €42.5 million and marks an important milestone in the scaling up of molten salt reactor technology.
The ASN Energy & Innovation Fund, in which StartGreen Capital acts as investment advisor, has provided a multi-million loan to Powercrumbs, an innovative company that converts unused biogas into clean energy for construction. Thanks to this financing, Powercrumbs can expand the number of filling stations from four to twenty and thus scale up the supply of sustainable energy nationwide.
The ASN Energy & Innovation Fund provided debt financing to Arnhem biogas supplier Powercrumbs, with StartGreen Capital acting as investment advisor to the fund. At the same time, Powercrumbs also received an additional capital injection from its existing investor Unknown Group.

To address fluctuations and congestion on the electricity grid in Overijssel, an innovative energy storage system is being built at the floating solar park on the Bomhofsplas in Zwolle. By integrating with the solar park, solar power is stored locally for use at a later time, which contributes to a more stable and sustainable energy system. Energiefonds Overijssel, one of the funds managed by StartGreen Capital, (co-)finances this system. All contracts were signed in October 2024 and construction has already started.

With B4Energy, lettuce specialist B-Four Agro wants to produce two million Nm3 of green gas every year for 1,400 North Holland households. To this end, the company from Warmenhuizen is building a bio-fermentation installation on its own site. Every year, the digester uses 16,000 tonnes of biomass as feed, which consists of vegetable residual flows from B-Four Agro itself and agricultural companies in the region.
