The province of North Holland has believed strongly in the power of sustainable and innovative energy for many years. Energy that saves the environment, but also stimulates the economy. Energy that you invest in together. This fund is an important instrument for the development of a sustainable economy in the province. PDENH is managed by ROM InWest, KplusV and StartGreen Capital.

The North Holland Sustainable Economy Participation Fund has been contributing significantly to the transition to a sustainable and circular economy since 2014. We invested more than 70 million euros in innovative and sustainable projects in the region over ten years. It has been a closed-end fund since September 2023; Since then we have focused on follow-up investments in existing portfolio companies.

Objective
The development of a sustainable economy in the province. The ultimate goal is to stimulate sustainable economic activity, employment and innovation.

Who is it for
PDENH is a closed-end fund that focuses on follow-on investments in existing portfolio companies. Over the past ten years, the fund has financed established and start-up companies. Consider companies that want to further expand their business model with proven technologies. Or to starters who want to prove their value with surprising innovations. The fund is specifically intended for companies and projects that provide an extra boost to the sustainable economy and focus on:

  • The energy transition
  • A circular economy
  • Sustainable mobility

Instruments
The fund issues its own and borrowed capital in the form of seed capital, project financing, start-up capital and expansion capital. Founding date
The Participatiefonds Duurzame Economie Noord-Holland was founded in 2014 by the Province of Noord-Holland.

Criteria

The fund issues its own and borrowed capital in the form of seed capital, project financing, start-up capital and expansion capital. This is done with shares, cumulative preferred stock and loans. The fund issues this capital from € 250.000 to € 7.000.000 max.

The general criteria for a participation are:

  • The project or company contributes to the sustainability goals of the fund and thus to the Province of Noord-Holland.

 

  • The project or company is situated in and benefits the economy of the Province of Noord-Holland.
  • The business case is transparent, viable and substantiated by a solid operating income.
  • The project or company has a dedicated and expert management team with integrity.
  • There are no doubts concerning the (legal) foundation of the project or company.
  • The project or company yields enough returns with an acceptable level of risk.
