From April 1, the province of North Holland will gradually transfer the management of the North Holland Sustainable Economy Participation Fund to ROM InWest. To ensure continuity in fund management, ROM InWest, KplusV and StartGreen will work together for the next three years.

PDENH has been a closed-end fund since September 2023 that focuses on follow-up investments in existing portfolio companies, managing outstanding loans and reselling participations in successful sustainable growth companies.

Collaboration for continuity and consistency

The current fund management team remains involved and will work closely with ROM InWest during the transfer phase. For the portfolio companies, this means continuity and consistency in the policy of recent years, which optimizes the chance of financial, economic and social success for the companies, the fund and the region.

“We are proud to have contributed to making the province of North Holland more sustainable from the start as fund manager of PDENH, by facilitating entrepreneurs in the energy transition, circular economy and sustainable mobility in their development with financing, growth and advice. We will continue to work towards this in the coming transfer phase,” says Bart Blokhuis, director of PDENH from KplusV.

Significant contribution to transitions

In recent years, the fund has made a significant contribution to the transition to a sustainable and circular economy. Deputy Esther Rommel: “The fund has invested more than 70 million euros in innovative and sustainable projects. The companies involved are often in their start-up or scale-up phase. Their projects and activities provide a boost to the region in the field of energy transition, circular economy and sustainable mobility. With the investments, PDENH closed a gap in the capital market for this type of companies and projects. The companies involved have together achieved almost 900 kilotons of CO2 savings by the end of 2022 and created 566 FTE employment. PDENH's investments have also attracted more than €230 million in co-investments in these companies in recent years.”
