Overijssel Energy Fund finances large solar farm near Almelo

Overijssel Energy Fund, one of the funds under management from StartGreen Capital, (in part)financiert the construction of a large solar park near Almelo with a loan of twenty million euro. The through the park sustainable power generated will be the next 10 years taken by Allego. This Dutch charging station operator goes the green power use to charge its customers' cars with, thus actively contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions in traffic.

70,000 solar panels

Klimaatfonds Nederland is building, managing and (co)financing Zonnepark Aadijk II in Almelo. An area of 62 hectares will house 47 hectares of solar panels: about 70,000 units. A further 13 hectares of nature strips will also be created around the solar park. Solar park Aadijk II will generate around 43,000 megawatt hours of renewable electricity every year.  

Guaranteed purchase

The special feature of this project is that all renewable electricity will be purchased by Allegro at a fixed price for the next 10 years. This has been arranged in a so-called CPPA (Corporate Power Purchase Agreement). With this purchase contract, Allego secures green electricity from Zonnepark Aadijk II. Once the park starts supplying power, Allego will be able to fully charge around 2,000 electric cars with green electricity via its charging stations every day.
