Overijssel Energy Fund finances preservation of 124 homes
31 October 2023
Overijssel Energy Fund, one of the funds under management from StartGreen Capital, has issued a €6 million loan to Deventer housing foundation Rentree. With that loan, Rentree can make 124 houses in the Burgersdijk neighbourhood more sustainable, taking them from energy label C to Label A+.
Thorough approach
Rentree will tackle both the outside and inside of the homes. In the houses, Rentree will replace the heating system with hybrid heat pumps or central heating boilers and will insulate the façade, roof, windows and doors. Furthermore, ventilation will be improved and asbestos removal will take place. Work will start in September 2023. By making the building more sustainable, tenants will not only have lower energy costs, but also significantly more living comfort.
The role of Energiefonds Overijssel
Because making property more sustainable yields substantial energy savings, it contributes to energy transition in the province. For this reason, Energiefonds Overijssel has issued this loan to Rentree, which can use it to finance the preservation project at a low interest rate. This leaves more capital available for Rentree to make other homes in its portfolio more sustainable.
Impact in figures
Making the homes in Burgersdijk more sustainable provides a jannual savings of 5 TJ. In addition, preservation provides a CO2 savings of 197 tonnes of emissions. The project also delivers 36 FTE temporary jobs.
