Since 25 May 2018, every company that processes personal data of European citizens has had to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation. The protection of your personal data is important to us. In this privacy statement, StartGreen provides you with more information about the way in which StartGreen implements this.
The privacy statement was last amended on 11 April 2019.
In short, personal data are data that allow a natural person to be identified. StartGreen only collects personal data if there is a legal basis for this. In particular, these are data that you provide to us yourself. Depending on the relationship, we collect and process personal data such as your name, address, date of birth, nationality, gender, marital status, email address, passport photo, (copy of) ID or passport, financial details and IP address. Specifically for employees and applicants, we collect and process curriculum vitae, work experience, information on your education, (copies of) certificates, diplomas and references. A citizen service number is only collected and processed for employees.
In addition, we may process personal data about you that we have obtained from third parties, such as:
- information about companies and their representatives via the Chamber of Commerce; or
- data from public sources, such as the Dutch credit rating agency BKR, bankruptcy registers, newspapers, internet and social media.
StartGreen processes personal data of contacts we work with, in the past, present or in the future. This concerns:
- (potential) target companies;
- (potential) co-investors or financiers;
- visitors to our website;
- contact persons of business partners and business relations; and
- employees and applicants.
Social media buttons, such as Google+, Facebook or Twitter, may be available on our website. This privacy statement does not apply to these social media. The use of social media is your own responsibility. We recommend that you read the privacy statements of those social media carefully so you know what happens to your data. A lot of social media providers are located outside the European Union and also transfer your personal data outside the European Union. This means that your personal data may not be protected to the same extent as within the European Union.
StartGreen may only process your personal data if there is a legal basis for this. We process your personal data on the basis of at least one of the following legal bases:
- if this is necessary for the performance of an agreement;
- if the processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation;
- if we have a “legitimate interest” for this; or
- if you have given permission to process your personal data.
StartGreen currently processes your personal data for the following purposes:
- to execute agreement(s) that have been concluded;
- to reduce risks, for example by verifying whether the details of entrepreneurs are correct and/or whether the actions are taken by authorised persons;
- to comply with legal obligations, for example to identify business relationships;
- to carry out marketing activities, in particular to keep interested parties informed by means of newsletters or invitations to events;
- to improve and innovate our services;
- to contact you if necessary;
- to process and maintain our records;
- to conduct (statistical and other kinds of) research;
- to enter into and maintain an employee/employer relationship and to keep personnel, financial, hours, absenteeism and/or salary administration for this purpose; and
- to enter into and maintain a relationship aimed at acquiring and executing assignments and to keep a financial administration for this.
We may have to provide your data to regulators or other (government ) organisations, for instance the AFM or DNB, but also the tax authorities.
StartGreen does not sell your personal data to third parties without your permission.
In the context of providing our services, we may share your data with other parties if this is necessary for their specific services. These could be other service providers (for example IT suppliers or administration providers). We conclude agreements with these parties in accordance with the legal provisions. In those agreements we record arrangements specifically about the processing of the personal data they obtain, including on security, but also the fact that these parties are not allowed to process the data for their own purposes.
In principle, we keep your data within the European Union. However, it is possible that as part of the service, your data will be processed outside the European Union if one of our service providers is located there. If this happens, we will make sure this occurs in line with the strict rules that apply to this. We will ensure that there is an agreement with the other party that is in line with the standards approved by the European Commission at that time.
StartGreen takes appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss or any form of unlawful processing. Moreover, employees of StartGreen are obliged to maintain confidentiality and they may not provide your personal data unlawfully or unnecessarily. .
Your personal data will not be kept for longer than is necessary for the purposes for which they are processed. The law also obliges us to keep your personal data. How long we keep your personal data varies from a few months to a number of years.
You have the right to know which of your personal data StartGreen processes. If your personal data are incorrect, you have the right to ask us to adjust them.
In a number of cases, you have the right to be forgotten. In the event of a request for obscurity, we first check which data are necessary for us to guarantee any further service provision or which are necessary because we are processing your data on the basis of a legal obligation.
In a number of cases you have the right to ask StartGreen to limit the use of your personal data or to have that use temporarily “stopped”.
StartGreen may process personal data because of a legitimate interest it has in doing so. You may feel that your personal circumstances outweigh StartGreen's legitimate interest in using your personal data. You then have a right to object and to invoke that right to object.
You have the right to ask StartGreen to transfer your personal data directly to you. This applies to personal data that we have processed with your consent or on the basis of a contract with you. We will transfer your personal data as far as this is technically possible. This is called "data portability”.
If you have any questions or other requests regarding the rights described above, you can contact StartGreen by email at email@example.com. Within one month of receipt of your question or request we will inform you about how this will be dealt with.
This is, of course, possible. In every marketing communication from StartGreen, we offer you the option of setting your email preferences so that we no longer approach you with certain messages. It is also possible to unsubscribe completely from our communications. You will then no longer receive relevant marketing messages.
We will continue to send you messages about your agreement with StartGreen or with general information about our services or organisation.
If you are not satisfied with the processing of your personal data or about the information you have obtained about it, please let us know by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are still not satisfied with the handling of your complaint, you can contact the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
