28 October 2021

Simone Brummelhuis, managing director of Borski Fund, has been nominated for Female Business Angel of the Year by Business Angels Netzwerk Deutschland. She is the first Dutch person to stand a chance.

Simone Brummelhuis will compete against three other candidates from Germany, Switzerland and Australia. It is the fourth time that the German investor network presents the award for female business angels in cooperation with Business Angels Europe (BAE). Never before did a Dutchman stand a chance of winning the prize for female investors.

More business angels
With the award, the German business angel network aims to draw attention to female investors. The organisation aims to have a female share of business angels of 25 per cent by 2025. "There are many dedicated female investors in Europe," the organisation says in their press release, "and this will only increase in the future.

At the article on investors.co.uk Simone explains why women are in the minority in the investment world: 'This is partly because investors are mostly former entrepreneurs. So it's a chain reaction. So by supporting women entrepreneurs, Borski Fund hopes to cultivate more female business angels.'
